Celgard and Æsir Technologies Forge Strategic Alliance to Drive Industry Innovation in Nickel-Zinc, Zinc-Air and Lithium-Zinc Batteries
Celgard is pleased to announce a newly formed Alliance with Æsir Technology, Inc., a leading manufacturing company that specializes in developing next-generation Nickel-Zinc battery technology. This chemistry offers a stable cost-effective recyclable option with energy density in between lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries, making it an ideal choice for many applications. Together, Celgard and Æsir will collaborate on joint research projects to further develop high-technology next-generation Nickel-Zinc (Ni-Zn), Zinc-Air (Zn-Air) and Lithium-Zinc (Li-Zn) and Sodium-Zinc (Na-Zn) batteries used primarily in aviation, data centers, telecom, energy infrastructure and electric vehicle (EV) charging applications.

Celgard and Senior Settle Their Global Litigations
Celgard, LLC (Celgard), a subsidiary of Polypore International, LP, (Polypore) settled its litigations against Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co. Ltd. (Senior China) and several United States defendants in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and against Senior China in the United Kingdom (UK), and Senior China’s litigations against Celgard. The terms of the settlement are confidential. Celgard previously announced the successful outcome of the Targray, MTI and Farasis cases and will continue to protect its intellectual property (IP) regarding coated and uncoated separators for lithium-ion batteries and proprietary technology to safeguard its assets and customers.
Celgard Charlotte Manufacturing Facility to Expand Battery Separator Capacity and Create New Jobs
Celgard is pleased to announce a major expansion at its Celgard manufacturing site in Charlotte, North Carolina. Asahi Kasei approved investment in Hipore™ wet-process coating and finishing lines at the site to meet the increasing demand for lithium-ion battery (LIB) separator in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Celgard manufactures dry-process membrane separator also used in vehicle electrification. The company already has a skilled employee base capable of applying technical coatings to base film shipped from Hipore™ sister locations and completing finishing steps required to meet customer specifications. With the expansion, the Celgard manufacturing site will be positioned to provide the best domestically sourced solutions to the market with a complete product portfolio. Construction will begin at the Charlotte site starting in early 2024 with operations planned to start up in 2026. The expansion will create about 100 new clean-energy jobs at the Charlotte facility.
Celgard Takes Another Step in Energy Storage Growth as It Forms Strategic Alliance with Lithion Battery for Next-generation Battery Cells
Celgard, LLC (Celgard), a subsidiary of Polypore International, LP (Polypore), is pleased to announce a newly formed strategic alliance with Lithion Battery, Inc. (Lithion), whereby the two companies will undertake joint development of battery separators for next generation lithium-ion cells with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cathode material. Through this collaborative effort, the companies will meet the ever-growing demand of supplying consistent power to those in need with energy storage systems (ESS) for uses such as micro-grid power applications. The cells could also be deployed in medical tools and military and industrial markets, where Celgard has been providing separator solutions for decades.
Celgard and C4V Begin Exclusive Strategic Alliance Agreement for High-Voltage Lithium-ion Batteries for Giga-factories
Celgard, LLC (Celgard), a subsidiary of Polypore International, LP, (Polypore) is pleased to announce it has entered into a strategic alliance agreement with lithium-ion battery technology company C4V to advance the development of next-generation, high-performance, high-voltage battery cells. Celgard and C4V will collaborate on the development of separator solutions for the lithium-ion battery market optimized for C4V's high-voltage bio-mineralized lithium mixed metal phosphate (BM-LMP) cathode material.

Celgard Enters into Exclusive Joint Development Agreement for High-Voltage Battery Separator Technology with Morrow for LNMO Battery Cell Production at European Gigafactory
Celgard is pleased to announce it has entered into a multi-year joint development agreement with Morrow Batteries AS. Celgard will work with Morrow to develop, test, and commercialize next generation dry-process battery separators that will be used in Morrow high-voltage battery cells with lithium nickel manganese oxide (LNMO) cathode material for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage system (ESS) applications.

Celgard and Farasis entered into an agreement that settles the U.S. patent infringement litigation and the global disputes between the two companies. Celgard also added Senior-China back in as a defendant in Celgard’s California patent case and moved the North Carolina trade secret case back to the California court.

Celgard Successful in UK Appeal Court, Keeping Injunction Against Senior UK Battery Separator Import
The Court of Appeal’s dismissal of Senior’s appeal supports the UK High Court’s Judgement in favor of Celgard, which not only granted the injunction against Senior, but also held that Celgard had established an arguable case that Senior had used its trade secrets in developing and manufacturing battery separators and that England was the proper forum for the importation dispute.
